Entrance Finger Scans
How are finger scans used at Universal Studios Hollywood™?
We scan your finger at our entrance turnstiles the first time you use an admission ticket. On subsequent visits we will rescan your finger to verify that you are using the same ticket. This information helps facilitate re-entry and prevent fraud.
What information is collected as part of the finger scan?
Using a scanner, the software scans swirls and arcs of the finger to create a grid of intersecting points. These points are then stored as a series of coordinating numbers only. When the finger is scanned again, the number series will repeat and match itself to the stored original. As this information is stored as a number only, a fingerprint image cannot be recreated from the stored information.
Are all guests required to submit to a finger scan?
If you don’t want to submit to a finger scan, please notify the attendant at the entrance. You will be required to carry and show a photo ID.
Attraction Locker Finger Scans
Free attraction lockers are available to store loose articles at select attractions throughout the parks. These free attraction lockers may require a finger scan to register you and permit access to your locker. The information from this finger scan is solely used to verify your identity and to prevent unauthorized access to your locker. Additional lockers which do not require a finger scan are available for an additional rental fee inside the main entrance to each park.
